When it comes to leveling and raising concrete slabs, there are two primary methods used in the industry: mudjacking and polyjacking. We firmly believe that polyjacking is the superior method and have chosen to exclusively offer this service to our customers. In this article, we will explore the differences between polyjacking and mudjacking, and explain why polyjacking is the best choice for your concrete raising needs.

Polyjacking Vs. Mudjacking:

Polyjacking vs Mudjacking: Mudjacking, also known as slab jacking, is a process in which a mixture of water, soil, sand, and cement is injected under a concrete slab to lift and level it. The mixture, referred to as "slurry," can be heavy, and may not provide a long-lasting solution due to its susceptibility to erosion and washouts.

Polyjacking, on the other hand, is a newer and more advanced technique for raising concrete slabs. It involves injecting a high-density polyurethane foam beneath the concrete, which expands and hardens to lift and stabilize the slab. This foam is lightweight, durable, and resistant to erosion and washouts, making it a more reliable solution for leveling concrete.

Benefits of Polyjacking Over Mudjacking:

Lighter Material: Polyjacking uses a lightweight polyurethane foam, which exerts less pressure on the underlying soil, reducing the risk of further soil settlement and slab sinking. In contrast, the heavy slurry used in mudjacking can cause additional soil compression, potentially leading to future problems.

Hydrophobic: Polyjacking foam does not absorb water like mudjacking material meaning it is not susceptible to freeze and thaw that causes damage to your concrete.

No Washout: Polyjacking foam will not washout like mudjacking material. The foam fills all the voids beneath the surface creating a long-lasting material that is waterproof and not able to be damaged by water.

Faster Curing Time: Polyjacking foam cures within minutes, allowing for a much faster project completion time compared to mudjacking. The curing time for the slurry used in mudjacking can take days, keeping you from using the repaired area for an extended period.

Smaller Holes: Polyjacking requires smaller injection holes (usually about the size of a dime) compared to the larger holes needed for mudjacking (typically the size of a soda can). Smaller holes are less noticeable and provide a more aesthetically pleasing finish to your concrete surface.

Environmentally Friendly: The high-density polyurethane foam used in polyjacking is environmentally friendly and does not contribute to soil or groundwater contamination. Mudjacking slurry, however, can introduce harmful chemicals into the environment, causing concerns for the ecosystem and nearby water sources. Our foam is also made from 40% recycled materials that would have otherwise went in a landfill.

Longer-Lasting Results: Polyjacking offers a longer-lasting solution due to the durability and resistance of the polyurethane foam. The foam is not affected by water or erosion, unlike the slurry used in mudjacking, which can wash away or deteriorate over time.

Better Load-Bearing Capacity: Polyjacking foam has a higher load-bearing capacity than mudjacking slurry, making it a more suitable option for heavy structures such as driveways, sidewalks, and pool decks. This means that your repaired concrete will be better equipped to handle the weight of vehicles and other heavy loads without future issues.

Engineering Specifications: Polyjacking offers a wide variety of foams specifically engineered for a given purpose. This provides a more reliable repair than just using the same material mudjackers use on everything.
